A C Marine & Composites swells number of SME Members at the NCC

The National Composites Centre (NCC) is delighted to announce the joining of latest Associate Member, A C Marine & Composites. A C Marine & Composites is a multiple Olympic medal-winning boat builder, specialising in the manufacture of composite components for the marine and renewable energy sectors. The composites specialist joins the 43 industrial Members of the NCC, swelling the number of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to five. The full range of NCC Members spans from automotive, aerospace and oil and gas to metrology specialists and nano technologies providers.

In the five years of operation, the NCC has supported UK industry growth by working with hundreds of SMEs and primes across more than ten different sectors. The NCC strives to drive the UK to the forefront of composites manufacture, and is committed to actively supporting small and medium-sized enterprises by providing cost-effective opportunities to innovate new products or processes and optimise existing ones.

Alex Newton, founder and Director of A C Marine & Composites says, “We have worked with the NCC over the past two years on various projects and are thrilled to become a Member. As an SME undergoing rapid expansion, it is invaluable to have access to the centre’s resources and network. We are continuously striving to build on our technological know-how to benefit our customers and the wider composites community, so the fit couldn't be better.”

A C Marine & Composites works with some of the world’s leading engineers and designers in developing light weight composite solutions. Having recently relocated to a 22,000+ square foot unit in Gosport, on the South Coast of England, the composites manufacturer has invested in some of the latest technology and is currently collaborating with the NCC on a Research & Development project and an NVQ apprenticeship scheme.

Tom Hitchings, Business Development Director at the NCC, comments, “We are very pleased to welcome A C Marine & Composites as our latest Member. They are a small but rapidly growing company with huge aspirations for the future. The NCC looks forward to being able to help them achieve their goals, and further continuing our relationship at this exciting time.”
