NCC develops Post 16 Composites Trainer Programme

There is a growing need for composites skills in industry, across all sectors. This means more people must be trained in the subject to keep up with the industry demand. With the centre's involvement in the Apprenticeship Framework, we recognise the growing need for more composites trainers for colleges and work-based learning training providers.

We have developed a number of modules to form a new Train the Trainer Programme for composites trainers in Post 16 Education. This 8-day programme will provide delegates with a sound theoretical and practical introduction to working with, and producing, composite components. The course has ten mandatory composite modules:

  • Health and Safety
  • Statutory Regulations
  • Interpreting Engineering Data and Work Instructions
  • Working Effectively and Efficiently
  • Production of Components Using Hand Lay-up Techniques
  • Production of Tooling in Composites
  • Awareness of Defects in Components
  • Awareness of Materials
  • Awareness of Processes
  • Awareness of Product Design and Applications

The programme will be suitable for experienced trainers and assessors who have a background in engineering or transport subject delivery.
We are currently in the final phase of the development of this training course, sourcing the materials and equipment ready to run the course. Once this has been completed, to will be available on our prospectus and training schedule.
