NCC exhibits at LCV Cenex 2016

The NCC exhibited for the first time this year at the Low Carbon Vehicle conference and exhibition. This event was held at the Millbrook Proving Ground near Bedford on Tuesday 13th & Wednesday 14th September 2016. Tom Hitchings, Head of SME & Membership, and Paul Gallen, Automotive Sector Lead, represented the NCC, sharing a stand with the High Value Manufacturing (HVM) Catapult.

The stand featured a development composite panel from the collaborative cross-catapult Large Scale Project in Composites. This project connects and utilises the High Value Manufacturing Catapult centre competencies to develop structural composites solutions for the automotive and other industries. It focuses on:

  • Automotive Lightweighting - Affordably reducing vehicle weight to meet emissions targets.
  • High rate composites manufacturing processes - Open access industrial scale development e.g. automated preforming capabilities.
  • Supply chain development - Creating value in UK supply chains by meeting OEM needs.

For more information on the HVM Catapult Large Scale Project in Composites, please see the promotional flyer downloadable below or contact dan.kells@nccuk.com.

The NCC also showcased the latest composite lightweight wheel from Tier 2 Member, CSA Performance Wheels. Dymag is a pioneer in wheel design and manufacture and CSA Performance Wheels was the first company in the world to commercially manufacture carbon fibre wheels for both high performance cars and motorcycles certified for road as well as racing use.

The show was a great success and we are currently following up with over 30 new enquires and contacts made. Our presence at the show attracted much attention, as the use of composites to lightweight vehicles is becoming more widely known. We hope this continues to grow and we look forward to hopefully attending the show next year!

Please contact auto@nccuk.com if you think the NCC could help you with your automotive project needs.
