On Wednesday 29th June 2016, the NCC hosted a delegation of senior officials from Luxembourg. The delegation included the Luxembourg ambassador, the Director General for Research, IP and New Technologies at the Ministry of the Economy, the CEO of Luxembourg’s National Agency for Innovation and Research and the CEO of Luxembourg’s celebrated Institute of Science and Technology (LIST).

The visit was a great opportunity to showcase the NCC capabilities to one of the world’s most successful economies with a very strong financial sector. Luxembourg is home to a cluster of R&D centres, located close to the French and German automotive industries and component suppliers and has a powerful chemical industry which complement activities of the NCC, our members and UK industry. The discussions highlighted there is synergy between the two country’s innovation infrastructure about the importance of materials science, advance manufacturing, digital technologies and the need for continued collaboration. We are now in discussions with the authorities in Luxembourg to explore the possibility of reciprocal visits to identify those areas of greatest opportunity.
