Peter Giddings, Engineering and Capability Lead for AFP at the NCC, chairs Manufacturing Process Simulation session at NAFEMS UK Conference 2016

The NCC was pleased to attend the NAFEMS UK Conference 2016 in Telford on Wednesday 15th - Thursday 16th June 2016. NAFEMS is the only independent, international organisation dedicated solely to the engineering analysis, modelling & simulation community. This conference provided a vital insight into industry trends, common issues, and best-practice in engineering analysis, modelling and simulation.

Topics covered at the NAFEMS UK Conference 2016 included;

  • Material technologies
  • Coupled & Multi-physics
  • Multi-scale
  • Optimization
  • High Performance Computing (HPC)
  • Uncertainty Quantification (UQ)
  • Verification & Validation(V&V)
  • Simulation Process & Data Management (SPDM)
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD)
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

Peter Giddings, Engineering and Capability Lead for Automated Fibre Placement (AFP) at the NCC, attended as Chairman of the NAFEMS working group for Manufacturing Process Simulation. Whilst chairing the session on manufacturing process simulation, Peter introduced this newly formed group at the conference, outlining its mission and objectives. This working group will act as a focal point for technical specialists to support enhanced impact of manufacturing simulation and virtual manufacturing tools on real process outcomes.

This conference provided a great opportunity for the NCC to engage with key individuals in analysis and simulation from every industry, not only enhancing our knowledge as a centre but helping to build connections from across a wide range of simulation sectors.
