Early Careers at the NCC

9 Months ago, Annabel joined the NCC’s Materials team. Frankie, our Early careers lead met with her to find out how she’s getting on.

What do you love most about the NCC?

I love that I get to work on loads of projects across lots of different sectors. I’ve only been here a short time but I’ve already worked on automotive, aerospace, marine and military projects.

What’s different about the NCC?

It just gives you such a diverse range of skills and I’ve learnt so much stuff that I never thought I’d ever know. It’s really exciting, you are literally learning something new every day. I just love that about my role, it’s a constant challenge.

What development opportunities have you had to learn and advance?

There’s lots of training on offer and my manager supports my development. I’ve been on quite a few training courses since being here. There is a mix of theoretical and practical training, which is brilliant if like me, you learn by doing. Because of the work we do, we’re learning all the time through research and we get plenty of applied work as well. I’ve been down in the workshop getting hands on experience which is a great opportunity to work directly on a customer’s product.

What advice would you give someone considering the NCC?

I would say come and see us! Chat to people at the NCC, and come and get a feel for what we do here. We are all very friendly and happy to share our experiences, so engage with us, and show an interest in the company and our values.
