The National Composites Centre (NCC) welcomes newest Associate Member, Loop Technology

This month, the National Composites Centre (NCC) welcomed Loop Technology, as the latest Associate Member. Loop Technology brings extensive expertise in the provision of advanced automation systems with a particular focus on composites manufacturing. This exciting partnership will see the building and launch of the state-of-the-art Automated Preforming Cell, further developing cutting-edge composite related automation systems.

Alison Starr, Executive Director of Strategy and Business Development at the NCC, said “We recognise the importance of automation and manufacturing informatics in the future of composites manufacturing, and its role in helping our customers to be competitive which drives everything that we do here at the National Composites Centre. The addition of companies like Loop Technology to our Associate membership portfolio is vital in the development of digital manufacturing for composites. They have had significant involvement in the establishment of our new Preforming Cell, which will be open and ready for industry use in summer this year.”

The NCC currently has over 40 Members from a wide variety of sectors including, aerospace, automotive, renewables, oil and gas, transport, security and defence. Loop Technology joins the Associate membership community alongside a number of other engineering, software and materials providers. The NCC Associate membership offers wide-ranging services to suit the varied needs of Members and the composites industry, ranging from equipment and software providers to engineering trade magazines.

Loop Technology’s core focus is in advanced automation and how this is applied to composites manufacturing.  As a result of the rapid growth in composites automation across multi-sector industries their focus on automation in composites manufacturing has seen them work with some of the biggest names in the aerospace industry.

Alun Reece, Technical Director of Loop Technology, commented, “We’ve joined the NCC because advanced composites manufacturing is our passion and the NCC, being a centre of excellence, provides Loop Technology with the perfect platform to build valuable partnerships and further continue to provide advanced technological solutions to a wide network of like-minded businesses working in composite manufacturing.”

About Loop Technology Limited:
At Loop Technology we specialise in state of the art industrial automation technology. Our core disciplines are in the areas of machine vision, industrial robotics and motion control systems, all of which have become vital components in advanced automated systems, contributing to greater output and consistent product quality

Loop Technology offers an expert capability in the provision of bespoke equipment for applications in the aerospace, automotive and renewable energy sectors. Systems on offer vary from stand-alone vision inspection systems through robot milling and vision guided robot cells to highly specialised machines with over seven hundred axes of motion. It is true to say we often succeed where perceived industry leaders fail.

Composite materials have become an increasingly common element in mainstream aerospace, automotive and marine applications. Loop Technology has an expanding portfolio of projects targeted at composite processes.
These range from composite handling and inspection to kitting systems. A recent system capable of trimming and deburring random shaped flat panels without the use of CAD data or programming is being enhanced to process complex 3D forms.

Industrial automation technology by its very nature is an inherently complex subject, the dedicated team at Loop really are what makes Loop Technology such an innovative proponent in the field of advanced automation. When you begin a relationship with Loop you will see that it continues long after the project completes, in terms of continued advice, support and attention.
