WEAF Awards 2017 - NCC’s Mattia di Francesco recognised for his achievements

The NCC are proud to celebrate the success of one of our outstanding engineers Mattia di Francesco who was awarded the ‘Best Young Aerospace Entrant Award’ at the prestigious WEAF Aerospace Ambassador Awards on 21st June 2017.

Mattia joined the NCC as a 1st class honours graduate in Yacht and Powercraft Design and has progressed to an excelling composites aerospace engineer and the youngest technical team leader in a few years. From his NCC EngD he will become the leader of the Automated Deposition Technologies team, working with the NCC major aerospace customers, GKN, GE, Rolls-Royce and Airbus among others. His technical expertise has been awarded at a world renowned composites conference, where he presented his paper on control technology for Automated-Fibre-Placement to the levels of reliability and fidelity, required by the stringent certification constraints of aerospace.

Giuseppe Dell'Anno the NCC’s Engineering Capability Manager for Advanced Composite Manufacturing said “Mattia’s value and potential has been well known within the NCC, and I’m delighted that it has now been formally recognised by a high profile association like WEAF. With the completion of his EngD, he’s closing only the first of a long series of chapters in his personal development, and I am very pleased that Mattia has accepted to remain part of the NCC team after the completion of his EngD. I am looking forward to keep challenging him professionally, to provide him with the opportunities for growth that he deserves”.

The Young Aerospace Entrant Ambassador Award is presented to an apprentice or new graduate who has demonstrated significant early promise within their first two years at their company and is surely on the fast-track to greatness. During his time at the NCC Mattia has continuously proven exceptional knowledge and skills making him a well-deserved candidate for this award and a true ambassador to the aeronautical industry.
