The Manufacturing group are the core of the NCC's delivery capability.  The team of highly skilled technicians through to industrially experienced PhD engineers is responsible an extensive manufacturing workshop which includes logistics, lamination, moulding, curing, machining and part finishing.Supporting all the engineering teams, their skills and knowledge also inform upstream processes to ensure that new designs, equipment and production methods are created with manufacturing in mind.  This helps to ensure that products are cost effective and manufacturing can be scaled up easily from prototype to serial production.

The NCC operates some of the most advanced equipment used in the composites industry, alongside standard equipment familiar to the industry.  The manufacturing team supports capabilities for highly complex architectures with embedded features to large oven cured structures 20m in length and autoclaved parts up to 10m long at 400°C and 14 bar.

COVID-19 update - Easter shutdown and new working pattern

The NCC is taking a break for the Easter holidays and will be completely shutdown from Good Friday (10th April), returning on Monday 20th April.

From 20th April, all NCC staff will work a 4-day week, from Mondays to Thursdays. We will be completely shut on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. We will also re-open our workshop to support customer work and the national ventilator and recovery efforts, following a message from the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy to the UK manufacturing sector. We will have a phased return to the workshop for some of our manufacturing team, observing special measures for social distancing.
