Today the National Composites Centre becomes NCC.
NCC’s new identity reflects our evolution from a specialist technology centre to a broader innovation partner to industry - transforming cutting-edge research and technology to solve today’s industrial challenges and to deliver on the needs of tomorrow's industries.
Proud to be part of the University of Bristol and the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, NCC accelerates the growth of key industrial sectors that directly align with the priorities of the Industrial Strategy.
NCC will continue to expand its technology expertise. Building on its role as the national Centre of Excellence for composite technologies, it will continue to develop wider capabilities in fields such as advanced materials and digital engineering.
Richard Oldfield, Chief Executive Officer of NCC, commented:
“Today marks the next stage in NCC’s growth. We are evolving to meet the future needs of industry, expanding our technology leadership and delivering impact aligned to Industrial Strategy priorities. This is far more than a name change - it’s a reflection of our expanded capabilities and the impact we can have nationally and regionally.”
Pushing the boundaries of technology is at the core of what NCC does. We de-risk new technologies across the entire product lifecycle, provide a trusted environment where businesses can confidently develop, test, validate and scale solutions that allow them to compete, grow and succeed.
With deep engineering expertise, £300 million state-of-the-art facilities and a national footprint, Bristol-headquartered NCC is uniquely positioned to help businesses across the country innovate at pace and scale.
Helen Godwin, newly elected Mayor of the West of England Combined Authority, added:
“NCC is an anchor asset to the West of England – not just in terms of its national profile, but in the tangible benefits it brings to our region every day. As a partner for innovation, it will help pioneering local businesses, support high-quality jobs, and strengthen our position as a global hub for advanced manufacturing and clean technology. The fact that this kind of world-class capability is based right here in the West of England is something we’re incredibly proud of. It shows how regional strengths can drive national impact and underlines why continued investment in innovation is so important for our local economy and communities.”
Having supported over 300 businesses annually, including 560 SMEs in 2024 alone, NCC is poised to lead the next era of industrial innovation.
