Aidan Church, Technical Apprentice at the National Composites Centre (NCC), recently participated in the BBC Bitesize School Tour at Fairfield High School in Bristol. This event aimed to promote opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to secondary school students.
The BBC Bitesize Careers Tour is an interactive event visiting over 110,000 secondary school students across the UK, introducing them to a range of careers available locally. Hosted by BBC presenters, the tour features professionals from various industries who share insights into their career journeys and the skills required in their fields.
During the event, Aidan joined sessions led by BBC presenters, sharing his experiences and insights into the field of engineering. He discussed his educational background, the apprenticeship program at NCC, and offered valuable advice to students considering careers in STEM.
Reflecting on his participation, Aidan (pictured far right) said:
‘It was a very good experience, I met some really interesting individuals in the BBC team. I’m thankful for the opportunity to take part and inspire the next generation in STEM’
This opportunity was made possible through the support of the Gatsby Foundation, dedicated to strengthening the country’s science and engineering skills.
The National Composites Centre offers Apprenticeships that combines on the job training at our world leading research and development facility in Bristol with classroom learning at Weston College.
