Course Overview
Engineering designers have always optimised products for functional purposes; things like weight, strength and cost. Increasingly they also need to optimise for environmental impact, but it is often unclear how to do it.
Our Design for Sustainability module aims to give learners a framework for designing with sustainability in mind. We discuss critical concepts such as lifecycle thinking, show how to measure environmental impact, and give guidance on the options a designer has for optimising products for environmental impact.
