Work placements and internships

Work Experience
STEM Work Experience is a week-long event held at the NCC where Key Stage 4 students (ages 14-16 years) learn about different engineering disciplines, the stages of an engineering project and what a 'day in the life' of an engineer looks like. This is completed through classroom styled lessons, interactive sessions and practical sessions in our workshop. It aims to inspire the next generation of engineers, not just in the world of composites!
STEM for schools
School outreach aims to show young people that engineering is an exciting, creative field and demonstrate the many routes you can take to become an engineer. We want to change the common perception of an engineer and show young people that they are capable of becoming an engineer in the future.
For primary schools we run yearly school outreach sessions with hands on design and build activities currently focusing on Key Stage 2 (ages 7-11 years). In the team, we plan activities and send a couple of engineers per class to the school to run lessons, half days, or full days.
For secondary schools we encourage ad-hoc requests for schools to visit and tour the NCC, network with our engineers, and hear about the work we do.
STEM for organisations
We work with organisations of all natures to widen the impact of our STEM outreach. This can include collaborating with STEM outreach charities and other businesses to plan and run events at a larger scale, to help more young people discover the joy of STEM. If you are interested in working with us, or are looking for volunteers for outreach events, please get in touch.
