Turn outstanding research into industrial impact
NCC is launching a call for applications for the 2027-28 Technology Pull-Through (TPT) programme this September. This short webinar will outline details of the programme and answer applicant questions.
Themes
We are seeking innovative proposals that can accelerate the adoption of transformative technologies into industrial applications, delivering measurable impact in productivity, sustainability, quality and time-to-market:
- Accelerating assurance and certification through advanced non-destructive testing (NDT), metrology, virtual testing and digital qualification approaches.
- AI-enabled engineering and manufacturing including intelligent automation, advanced robotics, systems engineering and agentic AI.
- Modelling, simulation and digital engineering to reduce development cycles, physical testing requirements and time-to-market.
- Sustainable manufacturing innovation focused on energy-efficient processes, resource productivity and industrial decarbonisation.
- Advanced materials manufacturing with particular interest in technologies supporting carbon fibre production and ceramic matrix composite (CMC) manufacturing.
Priority will be given to proposals with a clear route to industrial exploitation, particularly in carbon fibre manufacturing and other high-value advanced manufacturing applications.
About the programme
The TPT programme has been running since 2017 and is open to all UK universities and academics. We welcome applications from those who have completed fundamental research into composites, digital or related sustainability technologies and are looking to increase technology readiness.
The aim of the programme is to help new technologies make the step from TRL 3 to TRL 6 – out of the lab environment and into an industrial setting.
Successful projects will benefit from:
- Funding to scale-up and de-risk new technologies, facilitating the transition to industry.
- NCC expertise in project management, research and development, in addition to access to our cutting-edge industrial facility.
