Future Focus: Manufacturing a better future

Friday, 11 Mar 2022

FibreHub, Pool

Relevant to your real-world manufacturing challenges, the morning of the 11th March will inspire innovation and leave you better prepared for the journey to net zero.

This Future Focus event will give you the opportunity to learn from experts, be inspired by business case studies and connect with support to help you implement change.

After hearing from our speakers, case studies and exhibitors, you’ll leave the morning with practical solutions to your manufacturing challenges and a deeper understanding of the resources available.

We’ve worked with Cornwall Manufacturing Group‘s (CMG) Jon Hurrell to ensure this event meets the needs of Manufacturers in Cornwall.

EXPERT SPEAKERS FROM THE NATIONAL COMPOSITES CENTRE

Experts Leah Rider (Head of SME Delivery), Jonathan Butt (Deputy Chief Engineer – Digital), James Helm (Technology Programme Manager – SME Projects) and Kyle Pender (Advanced Research Engineer – Sustainability) from the UK’s world-leadingNational Composites Centre(NCC) will deliver sessions on advanced materials, net zero, sustainability and industrial digitalization.

They will illustrate how collaboration and technology are key to overcoming supply chain disruptions and skills shortages, whilst enabling you to effectively implement your sustainability goals and realise real-life benefits.

NCC will introduce you to the range of resources accessible through the High Value Manufacturing Catapult, of which they are one of seven centres. There will be an interactive Q&A and panel discussion.

‘SKUNK WORKS’ FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF EXETER

Over the course of the morning, you’ll hear from Professor Allen Alexander and Jim Grant, University of Exeter, who will present on ‘Skunk Works’ – exploring how testing your manufacturing solutions can improve efficiency and reduce business costs.

He will draw on his own experience in industry, innovation research in an academic setting, and their recent NCC and NATEP collaboration.

NETWORK IN OUR EXHIBITOR SPACE

Likewise, our exhibitor space will encourage sector-based solutions and conversation, with stands covering topics ranging from decarbonisation to the future green workforce. Our Digital Innovators will also be on hand to discuss the numerous ways of using technology to create advanced, sustainable manufacturing methods.
