National Manufacturing Summit 2021

Going for Gold in Tokyo

Wednesday, 17 Mar 2021

Online

The National Manufacturing Summit brings together the manufacturing industry to demonstrate the UK’s world class industries and their contribution to the UK economy.

Successful projects are rarely completed by individuals, but by teams; coming together and working towards a collective goal and creating synergies by combining their skills and expertise. As manufacturing led projects are rarely linear, they often require multiple skills as individuals come together and new teams are created.

Paralympic para-canoe gold medallist Emma Wiggs will provide a rare insight into the inner workings of the team that are supporting her efforts to compete in Tokyo 2021.

Meet the NCC

Graeme Barnes, Principal Research Engineer at the NCC, and Miguel Fernandez-Vicente from the MTC will join Emma to present their ground breaking collaboration to build a completely new, bespoke, composite paddle, to help propel Emma to her second Paralympic gold medal at the Tokyo Paralympics.

The session is taking place on Wednesday 17 March at 15:15 and is free to attend by entering the National Manufacturing Summit atrium and registering for Session 25.
